Tomorrow, November 13, will be the closing party for C’est Bon Panorama II: Frankenstein.

Join us as Biograf Spegeln between 18-21 for a last chance to see the exhibition in this form.

This will also be the combined release party for C’est Bon Kultur’s C’est Bon Anthology vol. 8 and Wormgod’s Piracy is Liberation 007: Spiders pt 1 (by Mattias Elftorp), and we’ll be showing the film C’est Bon Flashback, which was previously shown during the Malmö Festival this year.

Today it’s Friday Oct 30th and the opening of the exhibition! From 18.00–21.00 hrs at Malmö’s cinema/gallery for art films; Spegeln. The 21 pieces from the 7 artists will be there to behold, in all their Frankensteinian glory. Violinist Camila Astorga Díaz will be playing live at 19.00 and 20.00 hrs; guaranteed to send chills down everybody’s spines.

On Sunday Nov 1st at 17.30 hrs there is our big Frankenstein film program! We’re bringing you 8 films – 7 short films and a full feature film – that will give you the big picture of how Mary Shelley’s novel has been interpreted on the silver screen. I’ve finished the last two pieces, one being more of a calm polar landscape and the other as slightly more chaotic. I’ve tried to capture the feelings I got when I re-read Shelley’s book; solitude, abandonment and alienation but also the sense of nature’s grandeur. It is a sad book in many ways, but an insightful one as well about the fear of the unknown. My third piece is about this fear and the mixed emotions it might arouse when being encountered by monstrocity and also the multiplicity of it all. I believe monstrocity is something both individual and very common in the human mind. We fear that which we don’t know until we get to know it and it becomes familiar. By now I guess Frankenstein’s monster has grown into being somewhat like a dear old friend, at least for us working on this exhibition.

My third and final image is done. Here’s a sample:

It’s about saying “Fuck you” and finally moving out from your parents. Trying to stand on your own two legs, living your own life.

Or maybe it’s about being thrown out into the storm by your own father because he was too chickenshit to take responsibility for his creation.

Well. At least it hasn’t started raining. Yet.
