Realised that we haven’t showed much of the results of the exhibition here on the blog, and that it’s about time (especially since there will be a new instalmen in the Panorama exhibition series later this fall). So here are my pics:

Susanne: More samples

I’ve finished the last two pieces, one being more of a calm polar landscape and the other as slightly more chaotic. I’ve tried to capture the feelings I got when I re-read Shelley’s book; solitude, abandonment and alienation but also the sense of nature’s grandeur. It is a sad book in many ways, but an insightful one as well about the fear of the unknown. My third piece is about this fear and the mixed emotions it might arouse when being encountered by monstrocity and also the multiplicity of it all. I believe monstrocity is something both individual and very common in the human mind. We fear that which we don’t know until we get to know it and it becomes familiar. By now I guess Frankenstein’s monster has grown into being somewhat like a dear old friend, at least for us working on this exhibition.

I like letters. Therefore Shelleys words will be a prominent part of the threesome I’m cooking.

Mattias: It takes one to make one.

My third and final image is done. Here’s a sample:

It’s about saying “Fuck you” and finally moving out from your parents. Trying to stand on your own two legs, living your own life.

Or maybe it’s about being thrown out into the storm by your own father because he was too chickenshit to take responsibility for his creation.

Well. At least it hasn’t started raining. Yet.

Mattias: Merging parts…

The more I looked at my first image (the one I discarded), I realised that I kind of liked it after all. So I decided to merge it with the last one I made.

Susanne: First sample

Wintery landscape overload going on right now in my laptop. Ice, mountains, snow and the vast ocean. Oh, and the monster of course. This is a sample of my first image.

By the way. Tonight, in a little while, Swedish television will show part 3 of their series about the horror genre, which will deal with Frankenstein and Alien. Coule be interesting…

Mattias: Winter of solitude

The first one that I’m actually going to use is done. Here’s some samples (for the complete picture, come to the exhibition):

In relation to the other two images, this will probably be the third, but never mind. I’m showing them here in the order I’m creating them.

This is also the only one with any real connection to Shelley’s book itself. The others are more conceptual. I just got this image in my head and felt that I wanted to do it.
